The Norfolk Pines from Breakneck Valley
The pines were originally intended as a supply of spare masts for the Naval squadron based on Ascension to combat the slave trade. Breakneck Valley is a steep ravine running from just below the peak of Green Mountain, and naturally concentrated the rain falling on the peak into a small area.
